Denon’s much revered SC5000 have now had a 7 inch rotating platter stuck on them!
Denon DJ’s last media player to have motorised platters on them was their SC3900 range – releases in 2012! So this is a big moment.
In our opinion, this decision can only have been made by Denon DJ due to the resurgence of the Hip Hop genre. Hip Hop never went anywhere, obviously we know that, but for the past 5-6 years, EDM has been at the forefront of the charts, and this past year has seen Hip Hop make a “comeback” (if you can call it that).
To slap motorised platters on a media player after so long, suggests that these controllers are designed for ‘turntablists’, not EDM DJs. It’s a big risk from Denon. We hope it pays off for them, as fortune should favour the brave.
"Denon DJ has produced a more powerful and capable motor than has previously been available on a DJ media player and paired this with the elegance of the SC5000 interface. Rotating the tactile and ergonomically designed platter, this high/low adjustable torque motor is Brushless DC Electric technology. Brushless motors are far superior to their Brushed type counterparts, featuring high torque to weight ratio, increased efficiency/reliability, reduced noise and electromagnetic interference plus a longer lifetime expectancy too. The SC5000M brushless motor is unaffected by centrifugal force, maintains efficient conduction cooling and offers protection from environmental dust or dirt."Denon DJ
